Edward3 Finch who lived in Charles City County is not listed among the Saint Peters Parish baptisms. However, neither is Martha Finch, the daughter who died in 1716.
New Kent County adjoins Charles City County on the north.
Edward3 Finch is the right age to be a son of Edward2.
His name of Edward is a further strong indication that he was of the New Kent County family.

The father of Edward2 Finch was probably Thomas Finch.
In 1664 in New Kent County Thomas and Francis Finch paid taxes on 300 acres of land.
Forty years later, Edward Finch paid taxes on 300 acres in New Kent County.
The name Francis was not used by the New Kent County Finch family, but the name Thomas does come through in later generation.
