The first of the children of Thomas Swann to leave Noxubee County was Milton M. Swann who returned to Bedford County Tennessee to marry a girl he had known in his childhood. He married Mary Ann Sivley, the daughter of Jacob Sivley and Elizabeth A. Brooks. Mary Ann Sivley was the sister of John J. Sivley who married Evelina4 Roberts (Daniel3, Cornelius2).
She was born Oct. 20, 1823.
She died Nov. 29, 1877 Red River County TX.

The Sivley family was closely connected with the Swanns for many years and intermarried with them several times. Jacob Sivley first appears on the 1840 census of Bedford County living neighbors to the Woodfins. After the marriage of Milton Swann and Mary Ann Sivley they continued to live in Bedford County until 1851. At that time apparently both Milton M. Swann and Jacob Sivley decided to move to Red River County Texas. They settled close together in Red River County, and the area became known as the Swann or Sivley Grove. It was located west of the town of English and north of Annona. Milton Swann was at one time a school teacher for records show that Dr. Clark’s wife, formerly a Miss English, went to school to Milton Swann.

Milton and Mary Ann Swann raised a large family of 10 children. However, two of the children, Eliza Jane and Roxanna, died very young. Joseph M. and Roxie who married Ed. F. Wright died before they reached 30 years of age. William Porter, Malcom, and Sophia who married C. A. Worley died before the age of 40. William Porter Swann married Mollie M. Rodgers born in Noxubee County. After he died in 1881 she married his brother Charles Dale Swann.

The dates of birth and death of the children of Milton M. Swann are taken from the Milton M. Swann Bible.

The Milton M. Swann Bible states that Milton M. Swann came to Red River County Texas from Bedford County TN in 1851.

Milton M. Swann was a member of the Elim Baptist Church in Noxubee Co. MS from 1843 to 1848. He probably moved to Noxubee County MS when his father Thomas Swann moved there. Then he left the church and moved back to Bedford County TN and lived there about 3 years before moving to Red River County Texas in 1851.
