Notes: In the 1764 Tithe List for John Ballard, he has listed under his name Edmund Ballard and William Ballard. Since the maiden name of Faith, wife of John Ballard, was Faith Edmunds, this child was probably named for her family. He is not listed in the Will of John Ballard and probably died between 1764 and 1783.

John Ballard married Mary Garland, daughter of “Colonel” David Garland of Lunenburg County whose will dated March 18, 1780 was probated May 8, 1782, Lunenburg County VA Will Bk 3, P 108. The Will mention daughter Mary Ballard, wife of John Ballard.

John Ballard Jr. was a Justice of the County Court of Lunenburg County from 1780-1784 and during the same period was a vertryman of Cumberland Parish. He is thought to have emigrated from this area about 1784.
