Obituary of Martha Strawn Perry Edwards, Lockhart Post Register, issue of 27 Feb. 1986

Martha Perry Edwards died Sat., Feb. 22, 1986 in Lockhart. She was born in Bastrop County on Aug. 2, 1898, the daughter of Lawson Strawn and Alice Cox.

She was a postmistress in Lytton Springs for many years and was a member of the Lytton Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by 3 sons: Thurmond (sic) Perry of Austin, Bobbie Dee Perry of Rosenburg and Dawson Griffith Perry of Lockhart, 2 daughters, Ermine May of Lockhart and LaMerle Schuelke of Lockhart, 1 sister, Ruby Gomillion of Lytton Springs, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at McCurdy Funeral Home on Mon., Feb. 24, with Rev. Brice Mandaville officiating. Burial followed at Lytton Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Doak Schuelke, H. M. May, Jr. Rommie Schuelke, Griff Perry, Bobbie Perry, Jr. and Greg Perry.

Obituary of Dawson Griffith Perry, Sr., Lockhart Post Register, Issue of 27 June 1935

Death came suddenly and swiftly early Sun. Morning June 23 to Mr. D. G. Perry who for 20 years had been an esteemed citizen of the Lytton Springs community. Mr. Perry was ill only for a short while, being stricken shortly after returning home from services which he and his family attended earlier in the night.

He was born Nov. 18, 1887 in Kendall County and resided there until 1895 when, with his family, he moved to Caldwell County and settled in Lytton springs.

On Dec. 3, 1916 he was married to Miss Martha Strawn. The widow and 4 children survive: Thurman who graduated from the Lytton Springs High School this spring, Ermine, LaMerle and Bobbie Dee. Mr. Perry was a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. N. M. Gilbert. Interment was in Lytton Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Alton Gomillion, Ben Woodland, Milam Johnson, J. Luther Watson, Will Brewer and Ben Gentry.

Survivors besides his wife and children are his mother, Mrs. Henderson Perry of Lytton Springs, 3 sisters, Mrs. H. A. Ferguson and Connie Ward of Lytton Springs, Mrs. J. N. Barry of Fort Worth and 1 brother, E. W. Perry of Austin.

DeWitt Acles Edwards, 60, died at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 15 in Lockhart of coronary occlusion and was buried in the Lytton Springs cemetery Feb. 17. The Rev. Andy Childress and the Rev. Joel

Thielpape conducted the services from Field Funeral Home.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Martha Edwards of Lytton Springs, 2 daughters, Mrs. H. M. Terry of Amarillo and Mrs. Byron Anderson of Highland, 4 grandsons, 3 brothers, Rufus Edwards of Murchison, Emmitt Edwards of Tyler, Marvin Edwards of New Mexico, 5 sisters, Mrs. Doc Cewitt, Mrs. Johnnie McCalla, Mrs. Jewel Richards of Murchison, Mrs. Herman Richards of Murchison, Mrs. Herman Mayfield of Brownsboro and Mrs. Lura Cavert of Duncan, OK.

Son of D. C. and Amanda Sims Edwards, he was born Sept. 23, 1896 in Van Zandt County. He married Martha Perry at Lytton Springs March 31, 1940 and moved to this County in 19__ (illegible). He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 487, the Lytton Baptist Church and had been a carpenter at the time of his death.

Pallbearers were Ruben Webb, Joe Cheatham, Claude Herman, Fritz Smith, Mike Terry, T. H. Barhill and James Brewer.

Ermine Perry May, 88, of Lockhart passed away on Mon., Dec. 28, 2009 in San Marcos, TX.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1921 to Dawson and Martha Strawn Perry in Lytton Springs, TX.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer May, Sr.

She is survived by her son, Homer May, Jr. and wife, Madalyn of Coastesville, PA, daughters, Bonnie Stanley and husband, Larry, of Fredericksburg and Sue Smith and husband, William of Gonzales and sister, LaMerle Schuelke of Lockhart. Ermine was also blessed to have in her life 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wed., Dec. 20, 2009 at McCurdy Memorial Chapel in Lockhart, TX with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Interment followed at Lockhart Municipal Burial Park in Lockhart.
