Anne Waller Reddy of the Virginia Revolutionary Research under date of March 19, 1931, writes: 'I have the following reference to the marriage of Levi Ashbrook, Hampshire County Virginia.” Chenoweth History by Mr. Hiatt, p 69 says Levi Ashbrook married Elinor Chenoworth 1774. We have the History of the Chenoweth Family by Dr. Arthur L. Keith. It is a small pamphlet and mentions John Chenoweth's will 1812. In the will the wife Elinor is mentioned and sons William, Absalom, John, James, Elias and daughters, Elizabeth Monroe, Elinor Ashbrook, Rachel Ashbrook and Mary Ashbrook.

Mrs. Thomas R. Barker (descendant of Felix Ashbrook) of Danville, Indiana, under date of March 16, 1931, writes me: "A short time ago I secured from Hampshire County West Virginia copy of Deed executed by Levi Ashbrook and wife Mary M. dated March 11, 1777, conveying 200 acres to Elias Pastor, consideration 130 pounds. One boundary begins at Moses Ashbrook's line. This proves that one of Levi's wives was named Mary, but which one? I also had a copy of deed from the same County from Levi Ashbrook, Jacob Lander and wife Catharine and Rebecca Ashbrook Joiner, all of Clark County KY, heirs of Levi Ashbrook dated Oct. 28, 1811 for two parcels of land to James McBride of Hampshire County. All of this land is described as lying along the North River of Cape Capon. This last deed gives me the names of Levi's two sisters, namely Catharine and Rebecca. The third one may have died.
