William Clinton was born 1810 Williamson Co TN and died May 12, 1848 on board ship from Vera Cruz, Mexico to Port Lavaca, Texas on way home from service in the Mexican War.

Data from Marie7 Benson Smith(Winifred6 Alice Neatherlin, Susan5 Susannah Clinton, Caroline4 Roberts, Daniel3, Cornelius2)

Grandmother Susan never talked about her family too much. The two things I remember her saying was:
(1) Her mother died giving birth to William and that the baby died shortly after the mother. She left me with the feeling that this was just a few months before her father died.
(2) When some of the ladies of the family would be around, the colored servant would say to her "Honey Child" the beautiful dresses those ladies are wearing belonged to your mother.

I have been told that William Clinton was buried at Port Lavaca.
