| April 1895 - December 1901 page 132: Malinda Bridwell, the wife of late Stephen Bridwell, died Friday, April 9, at the old homestead at Middle Creek. Was 81 years, 2 months old. Daughter of Rev. Simeon Buchanan. Member of Baptist Church. Married S. A. Bridwell on Nov 26, 1835. Was the mother of 12 children, 1 dying in infancy. Wm died March 2, 1862, 10 still survive: Thomas A. of St. Johns; Amelia A., widow of the late Sanford Cotton; and Sallie E. at home; John H. of Cal.; Stephen A., Benjamin Q and Samuel L., all of Elizabethtown and Hodgenville Road; Elizabeth, wife of Dr. Hobley of Amherstburg, Ontario; Nannie, wife of J. H. McCoy of Elizabethtown; Addie, wife of Silas Lee of near Elizabethtown. Mrs. Horne who died on the 16th was her only sister. They lived side by side for more than 50 years. Both widows for more than 50 years. They died 3 weeks apart. Nancy, relic of Shacklett Hoine(Horne?), died March 16 at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 16 days. Was born in Woodford Co., in 1809. Member of Baptist Church. Was buried on her 67th anniversary." |
